Uses the Mission 1 Pro far more than their iPhone 17 Pro Max for video, calling it a pocketable, tough, fun to use camera.

“Honestly it’s serious spec kit that’s tough and pocketable.”

Swapped an Action 6 for the Mission 1 Pro (EUR 670) and returned it: distant detail was soft, Low sharpness too mushy, 70cm minimum focus, faster battery drain, warmth and stabilisation glitches versus the DJI.

“So I returned the GoPro and now I'm waiting for the DJI Action 7.”

Compared the Mission 1 Pro with their Action 6: GoPro wins on 4K240 and 960fps slow motion, but the DJI's touch front screen and longer 5-minute Pre-Rec make it easier to use.

“The Mission 1 Pro does 4K240. My Action 6 does 4K120. GoPro wins that one.”

Fishing with two Mission 1 Pros paired with the Media Mod: recurring microSD card failures and throttling, buzzing audio and an mp4 clip problem in editors, which they never had on three Hero 13s or 12s.

“every trip out since getting these Mission 1 pros there has been some issue that ruined the videos.”

Owns both a DJI Action 6 and a Mission 1 Pro and prefers the GoPro, citing high bitrate, all-intra codec, 4K240 10-bit log and smarter exposure, though it is not sharp until about 60cm.

“personally I think my mission 1 pro is wayyy better”

Found the Mission 1 Pro very soft versus their Hero 12 until discovering the new Denoise default is High; set to Low, the detail returned, and they call low light a great improvement.

“I almost returned my mission 1 pro because it was incredibly blurry.”

Mission 1 Pro shut down for overheating within six minutes in 99F full sun at 4K60/8K60, while their Insta360 and DJI cameras keep going in hotter weather, despite loving its image look.

“can’t record in temperatures over 99f/37c”

A month into owning the Mission 1, horizon lock is slow to initialise, leaves clip starts tilted and randomly drops mid-recording.

“the horizon lock is wildly unreliable.”

First impressions of the Mission 1 Pro after selling an Osmo Pocket 3: very high build quality and a well thought-out cage system, but the battery drains quickly, losing 18 percent in 30 minutes and more in standby.

“it feels like having a real camera in my hand.”

Owns the Mission 1 Pro and praises its new processor over the clunky, error-prone Hero 10, and the 1-inch sensor as a big step up from the Hero 13, especially in low light.

“But the 1 inch sensor compared to the 13 is a huge difference. Low light is a great upgrade”

After nearly two months with the Mission 1 Pro, finds 480fps 1080p footage noticeably sharper than 960fps, which is also limited to 8-bit with no GP-Log 2.

“the 480 fps footage consistently looks sharper than the 960 fps footage”

Mission 1 Pro fell off a Magnetic Latch at 40km/h on an e-scooter after the securing pin broke, cracking the display and body; GoPro agreed to send a replacement, but they question its weight for backpack straps.

“M1P is broken (display glass, body, quick capture rubber, optic cover frame, ...).”

Measured the Mission 1 Pro at 8K/60 with a logged temperature curve: it reached 116F after 16.5 minutes without shutting off, above the touch-pain threshold, and opened a case with GoPro.

“After 16:30 minutes it reached 116°F without shutting off.”

A month with the Mission 1 Pro as a second camera to a Sony A7V: loves image quality, GP-Log2 and low light, but the 60cm minimum focus and soft footage outside the focus range are making them consider returning it.

“Genuinely love the image quality and GP-Log2. Colors are natural and low light is a real improvement.”

Mission 1 Pro shut down from overheating after about two minutes of 4K240 in a roughly 18C room on a tripod, raising doubts about using it for long fencing bouts.

“it just shut down due to over heating after about 2 minutes of shooting”

Uses the Mission 1 Pro for skydiving and is blown away by slow motion and image quality, calling battery life amazing and the size only slightly bigger than the Hero 10 they upgraded from.

“I am absolutely blown away by the slomo and quality that comes straight out of this camera.”

Noticed the Mission 1 Pro drains its battery while off, fully discharging on a desk, while their Hero 13 only dropped about 20% over the same time.

“my Mission 1 Pro fully discharged while sitting on my desk”

Bought the Mission 1 Pro for better indoor video than a phone but found indoor footage dark and blurry, and it also stopped recording 4K60 on a supported V30 card.

“It's a dark blurry mess.”

Mounted Mission 1 Pro cameras on a car exterior and ended up with two broken screens and a cracked ND filter, which never happened with older GoPros short of major damage.

“Seems like the screens and ND filters may be more fragile than the previous cameras.”

Tested 960fps burst on the Mission 1 Pro for a golf swing and was disappointed that the shutter speed was not high enough to avoid motion blur; wants a macro lens or the ILS with a telephoto.

“kind of disappointed with the shutter speed during burst.”

Shot 50MP RAW with the Mission 1 Pro and edited in Lightroom: excellent daylight detail and dynamic range, flexible distortion correction, with 2-3 seconds per RAW capture as the main drawback.

“In good daylight conditions, the GoPro Mission 1 Pro delivers image quality that, in my experience, surpasses virtually every other action camera”
positivegreat image quality

Calls the Mission 1 Pro the best action camera by a long shot, using it with a Hero 11 for MTB POV; their Sony A7 IV now mostly stays in the bag.

“Amazing quality out of a pocket sized camera that you can mount to helmet or go swimming with”

Reports the Mission 1 Pro freezing and rebooting when recording 8K or anything above 4K30, and also freezing during in-camera playback.

“It freezes and reboots when pressing record on 8k or any mode higher than 4k30.”

Shot 50MP RAW stills with the Mission 1 Pro at a creator event: files comparable to a Sony A1 II in editing, great low light, though RAW processing takes about 3 seconds per shot.

“It's a mind-blowingly impressive little camera, it takes fantastic images”

Two months with the Mission 1 Pro after the Hero 13: great 960fps burst, low light and start-up speed, but poor focus, wind noise ruining audio, fast heating and three batteries a day; switching to the Action 6.

“There is only 1 word I can use to sum up the experience. Dissapointment.”

Tested the Mission 1 Pro for photos and found distant subjects like the skyline out of focus, with focus seemingly parked halfway; worried it is poor for landscapes.

“The skyline and the pole with the reflector on the jetty look out of focus”
negativeautofocus issues

Returned the Mission 1 Pro: footage was soft and smeary at distance compared with their Hero 11 and showed compression artefacts, making it poor for aerial and landscape video.

“the Mission 1 Pro was soft, more pronounced in the distance”
negativeautofocus issues

Bought the Mission 1 Pro as a travel camera instead of a D850; 50MP handheld daylight photos came out soft at distance, though colour rendition is great. Later learned of the closer focus and sent it back.

“the softness when it should be well into hyperfocal distance is disappointing”

Very happy with the Mission 1 Pro bought in launch week, calling its quality amazing as an action camera.

“I am very happy with my M1 Pro buying it in the first week release.”

Finds the Mission 1 Pro's Log footage cleaner and easier to grade than the HERO13's, with better shadow recovery.

“the one shot with the MISSION 1 is more neutral and less contrasted compared to the HERO13, offering superior shadow recovery”

Owns both and finds the Mission 1 Pro at infinity distance no worse than the HERO13 and clearly better in dynamic range.

“the Mission 1 Pro at infinity distance is objectively no worse than the Hero 13 Black”
positivegreat image quality

Loves the Mission 1 Pro: snappier interface, gorgeous screen, better audio, far better low light and strong battery life at 4K.

“In lower lighting conditions, the quality difference to the 13 is astounding”
