Finds their Lumix S9 great for handheld video.
“I used both the X-T4 and my current Lumix S9 for video and they’re great for handheld video.”
Took a used Lumix S9 on a first photo walk and was blown away by its straight-out-of-camera results and X-Pan crop.
“I went for my first photo walk with my new to me Lumix S9 and I was pretty blown away with what I got SOOC with it.”
Found the Lumix S9 a fantastic camera but hated not having an EVF.
“The S9 is a fantastic camera, I just hated not having an evf.”
Found Canon's compact options lacking and loves the Lumix S9 for travel.
“I ended up with the Panasonic S9, either with the 18-40mm or 28-200mm. It does not get more fun than th”
Regretted selling their Lumix S9 and bought it again.
“Yes, I sold the Lumix S9 and Fuji X100F, and I regretted it. I bought the S9 and a Fuji X100Vi.”
Moved from the X100V to the Lumix S9 and loves it.
“I went from mainly using the x100v to the S9 lately and have absolutely been loving it!”
A Nikon shooter whose S9 with the 40mm f/2 has become their everyday camera: small, unobtrusive, and great JPEGs straight out of camera with a good LUT.
“Nikon shooter but the S9 has become my go-to everyday camera, small and unobtrusive to carry everywhere”
Uses the S9 with Filmbox LUTs and finds it full-frame, small, very good for video, and insanely good with LUTs.
“The lumix S9 is marginally larger with full frame, extremely good video, and the ability to load LUTs.”
Has been loving their S9, which is cheaper and smaller with better video.
“I've been loving my S9, and from a photography stan”
After a few weeks with the S9 next to their X-T5, they find it small and light, with better AF-C and very impressive IBIS.
“The continuous autofocus (AF-C) for photos is fantastic and better than on the X-T5. Also I can say the IBIS is absolutely impressive.”
Their Lumix S9 is a tiny camera they love, and rarely seen on the street.
“Lumix S9. it’s tiny and i love it.”
Got an S9 as a fun, portable infrared camera next to an a7 IV, but finds it full of compromises: a slippery, brick-like body without a good grip and banding without a mechanical shutter.
“The S9, by comparison, has an incredible amount of compromises and workarounds”
Really enjoys their S9 for run-and-gun work and fast delivery.
“I personally really enjoy using my S9 but my specific workflow and needs are very different.”
Has owned an a6700, X-S20, a7 IV, X100VI and GR IV and now shoots the Lumix S9, which they find far better: colours, full frame, price and real-time LUTs, as long as you can live without EVF, hot shoe or mechanical shutter.
“LUMIX S9 is FAR superior in my opinion, as long as you don’t mind no EVF / Hot Shoe / Mechanical shutter. LUMIX colours, full frame, price, RT LUTs =”
Owns the Lumix S9 and recommends it for travel: full frame but small, excellent IBIS for handheld video, 6K open gate, great in low light and good autofocus.
“It's full frame, small, interchengable lenses, has one of the best IBIS for hand held video, 6K open gate video, amazing for low light, and great AutoFocus.”
Owns and loves the S9 with the 18-40mm. Warns that its 24 MP leaves little to crop for APS-C reach and that long lenses really need a viewfinder, so wouldn't pick it for wildlife.
“I own and love my S9 & 18-40mm. That said you shoot apsc and longer lenses. Full frame can be cropped to APs c but the s9 won’t do that as well because it’s “only” 24mp”
Bought the S9 as a second camera next to an S5IIX. Says it takes good photos and they don't regret it, but the missing EVF, fewer dials, no flash and dense weight make it less practical, and the S5IIX handles better and is barely bigger.
“I got a S9 as a second cam (also at 1000 euros recently maybe it’s the same offer) owning a S5IIx and would not get S9 as main cam for photo just because of the lack of EVF.”
Bought the S9 with the 20-200 and a few small primes and says it gives them fun and motivation to go out shooting. Good enough for casual birds, but not for serious bird hunting with heavy gear.
“Panasonic s9 is a great camera if you want just to make photography and / or video. I bought one, got 20-200, few smallish primes (and 50/1.2) and I just have fun and motivation to go out.”
Finds the S9 a lot of fun to use with fairly fast autofocus. The missing EVF only bothers them in bright sun, and they haven't missed the mechanical shutter in day-to-day shooting.
“The S9 is actually a lot of fun to use and it’s only in bright sun that the lack of an evf is daunting. It does autofocus pretty fast as well.”
