“One year and 10,000 shots into my X-T5, I finally did the long-term review. My hottest take: it replaced my X100V for 95% of my shooting and I don't miss it.”
Switched from a Canon R7 to the X-T5 with the XF 70-300 to go smaller; a little harder to use but they are happy with the results.
“definitely a lil harder to use but im pretty happy overall with the results”
Loving their new X-T5's image quality with no AF issues so far.
“Loving the quality of the fujifilm, not a single issue with AF so far.”
Returned an X-T50 for the X-T5 and absolutely loves it as a travel companion with primes and zooms.
“I’ve only used the X-T5 (returned an X-T50 for it) and I absolutely love it! It’s been a great travel companion”
Loves their X-T5's pictures but finds it bulkier than they'd like, even with a pancake lens.
“I love my xt5 but it’s bulky as hell and I wish I got something smaller.”
Coming from a D810, finds the X-T5 small and well balanced with big lenses; would choose it over their X100VI for lens flexibility.
“It also balances better than range finder type cameras with larger lenses.”
Upgraded from the X-T30 II to the X-T5 and is very happy with it.
“I upgraded from X-T30ii to X-T5, and very happy with it.”
Their X-T5's power switch has started to get stiff.
“my XT-5 has started to get a stiff power switch”
Has used their X-T5 since launch as a work tool in sand, tropical humidity, downpours, snow and on jet skis without any real issues.
“I have not had any real issues at all since I’ve owned it since it released.”
Has travelled all over Europe and Asia with their X-T5 without issues.
“I have the xt5. Travelled all over Europe and Asia with it. No issues.”
Got a bit bored of their X-T5 and moved to a Nikon Z5II for paid work for its better AF and low light, though they miss the Fujifilm shooting experience.
“I used to have an X-T5, which i was getting a little bored of, then switched to Nikon Z5ii for my paid work due to better AF, low light and the Nikon glass”
Came back to photography by buying an X-T5 on a trip to Japan and is in love with it.
“On my second day in osaka decided to pick up and try a Fuji xt5 for the first time! In love with it.”
Owns the X-T5 alongside Canon bodies; finds it workable but its autofocus mediocre, even on static subjects, and prefers Canon ergonomics for long sessions.
“That being said you can perfectly work with an X-T5, it's just that AF is really that mediocre, sadly.”
Previously owned the X-T5 and didn't care for its 40MP sensor: noisier low-light images and very large raw files.
“I didn’t care as much for the 40MP sensor, I found the low light images noisier, maybe because of not having the newer, more expensive lenses… and the raw files are huge”
Loves their X-T5 and other Fujis for image quality, but says the autofocus isn't good enough to rely on for paid work.
“there are many reasons I love my XT5 and other Fujis I’ve used. But the autofocus just isn’t where it needs to be. If my livelihood depended on”
Switched from an a7 III to the X-T5: image quality and sharpness were about the same and the AF wasn't as bad as claimed, but they sold it after seven months over its build quality.
“A7iii to XT5 and I can that image quality and sharpness were almost exactly the same. AF was the only issue I had however it's not as bad as some people will have you believe.”
A working professional who shoots Sony and Canon for work but uses an X-T5 personally, and finds it fully capable except for fast action like motorsport.
“My personal camera is a Fuji X-T5. My work ranges from corporate to sports. Unless you need the faster autofocus/better AF tracking to capture something like motor sports, Fuji is completely capable.”
Preferred the X-T5 to their Sony a7 IV: fabulous colours straight out of camera and fine autofocus except for sports.
“The XT5 is a great camera. Fabulous colors sooc. I mostly shoot RAW and apply the sims in Lightroom. I think the Fuji autofocus is fine unless you”
Finds the X-T5 with the Viltrox 56 Pro the sharpest combination they've used, after owning an R5 with L lenses.
“I have the xt5 and paired with the Viltrox 56 pro it’s the sharpest lens I’ve ever used. And I use to have an r5”
Finds the X-T5 great, but its stock grip doesn't fit their hands; with a SmallRig grip it's great but ends up as heavy as an a7 III.
“X-T5 is great but please physically hold one before you buy it. Stock, the grip just doesn't fit my hands. With a smallrig grip, it's great. But that makes it”
Owns an X-T5 and finds it too bulky to carry every day.
“I own an X-T5, that is definitely not an EDC camera. It's still too bulky to be an EDC.”
Hasn't used their X-T5 since getting an X-E5 and Ricoh GR IV, and is thinking of trading it for a Nikon Zf.
“I have a X-T5 too. Ever since I got the X-E5 and GRIV; I haven’t bothered with it. I’m actually thinking about trading it in for a Nikon ZF to”
Shot professionally with the X-T5 for two and a half years with no regrets or complaints; one of their favourite cameras.
“I shot professionally with an XT5 for 2.5 yrs and have zero regrets or complaints with it. One of my favorite cameras I’ve ever used and who knows I may”
After six years without shooting, the X-T5 with the 27mm pancake reignited their love of photography: compact with great quality.
“Started to fall in love witht he idea of an xt5 and 27mm pancake lens and it has single handedly reignited my love of photography. I sometimes want to get back into an adjustable”
Moved from Canon and Nikon pro bodies to the X-T5 because with a small prime it's far easier to carry; AF tracking of moving subjects is not excellent.
“I now shoot Fuji XT5”
Has used the X-T5 for a year alongside an a7 III: better low light and much higher resolution, but much worse autofocus, and the plastic top scratches easily.
“I think the X-T5 has a better low light performance than my old A7III, and it has a much higher resolution, although I don't really need that.”
Sold an a7R III and 24-70 GM for a used X-T5 and 16-55 f/2.8; more character, eager to take it out, and couldn't be happier.
“Couldn’t be happier.”
The X-T5 served them for journalism but its autofocus was always a step behind, which is why they changed systems; it does give more room to crop.
“X-T5 served me well when i was chasing some journalism work but autofocus is always couple of steps behind. It is always a problem. But, you know, DSLRs had much”
Switched from Sony full frame to the X-T5 with the 23mm f/2.8 a week ago: lighter, fun, good JPEGs and less friction to carry.
“I have done exactly this 1 week ago. I wanted a lighter setup to travel and bring camera everyday with me.”
The X-T5 is one of their favourite cameras, extremely portable and a joy to use; they regret selling it for a Nikon Z6III.
“The XT5 is one of my favorite cameras, I moved to a Nikon Z6III and regret selling it. It’s extremely portable and a joy to use.”
Went from an X-H1 to a Sony a7 IV and back to the X-T5 because the Sony felt like a chore; glad to be back for the shooting experience.
“I went from xh1 to a7iv and am now back with the xt5. Sony makes a great system and may be the best in the business but honestly it just seemed like a chore and”
Owns an X-T5 and calls it pro level, but says Fuji's autofocus lacks the 'it just works' reliability of modern Sony, Canon and Nikon bodies: usable but not competitive.
“I have an XT5, which is totally pro level as well. But you do lose a bit of the "it just works" magic modern sony canon and nikon cameras have mainly in the AF. It's”
Shoots mostly cars, with lots of reflective paint, chrome and glass, and loves their silver X-T5; the silver finish has never caused reflection problems.
“I love my silver X-T5. Had a silver X-E1 once. All my others (X-T1, X-T2”
Owned several Sony bodies, including an a7C for about four years, before switching to the X-T5. Says it produces the best images they have made, the lenses are a nice size and they never missed full frame, so they sold the a7C.
“This X-T5 aps-c sensor has been magical, the lenses are a perfect size, and i've never once felt like i missed having my full-frame.”
Bought and sold the X100VI three times, then settled on the X-T5 with the 23mm pancake, which they find better in every way and only slightly bigger. Autofocus with the pancake is good enough for photographing their kids.
“I use the XT5 with the 23mm pancake now and it's just so much better in every way than the X100VI, I no longer really desire owning one. It is a bigger overall package, but not that much.”
Returned to photography with an X-T5 and the 8-16, 16-55 and 50-150 f/2.8 lenses and loves how much fun it makes shooting, compared with an a7 III they didn't enjoy. Its autofocus was really good at a GT3 race; recommends adding a grip.
“I recently decided to shoot a GT3 race, and (because of the internet) I thought the autofocus would suck with fast cars but it turned out to be false lol. The autofocus was really good”
Owned the X-T5 and found its 40 MP X-Trans V sensor fine but not as much sharper than the 26 MP generation as expected, and weak at high ISO compared with monochrome Leicas.
“The X-Trans V sensor is *fine* but the extra megapixels vs IV is not really rewarded with more sharpness like one would expect from it.”
